COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Georgetown volleyball squad (1-4) dropped its first match in the Maryland Invitational to Bradley (3-2) 3-1. The Hoya effort included three double-doubles from Ashley Malone (San Jose, Calif./St. Francis), Kortney Robinson (Pleasant Grove, Utah/Pleasant Grove), and Samantha Trauth (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North). The final set scores were 25-21, 20-25, 17-25, 23-25.

In a dominant first set, the Hoyas won the first point and never gave up the lead. At 23-21 in favor of Georgetown, Trauth landed one of her three kills in the set and Robinson delivered a serve that could not be returned to end the set at 25-21. Robinson also had three kills, hitting .500 and tallied three digs. The Hoyas hit .382 as a team with 16 kills in the set.

Despite strong numbers from the Hoyas in the first set, the Braves tempered their game and capitalized on open opportunities to take the match in four sets. During a tense fourth set, GU overcame a six-point deficit early in the set but the Hoyas could not finish the comeback and lost the set, 25-23. Robinson recorded eight kills and two digs to bring her kill total to 16 and dig total to 10 for the match. Trauth notched four kills in the third set and finished with 11 kills and 11 digs. Malone tallied 13 assists during the second set, finishing with 49 assists and 16 digs on the match.

The Blue & Gray return to College Park for the Maryland Invitational Sept. 4 to play Fordham at 10:30 a.m. and Maryland at 7 p.m.
