Georgetown Gets Past James Madison, 4-3

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's tennis team turned the tables on James Madison University on Saturday with a 4-3 victory at Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria, Va. After the Dukes shutout the Hoyas last season, Georgetown returned the favor to improve to 2-4 on the season.

The Blue & Gray nabbed the doubles point as Stephanie Wetmore and partner Lauren Greco won, 8-4, at No. 1. After losing in the No. 3 position, the Hoyas fought back. Vicky Sekely and Tina Tehrani fought off match point to win 9-8 (7-3). The point made the difference in the close match.

In singles play, Wetmore won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 and No. 3 Greco had a huge performance against Jacqueline Palmucci who is ranked in the top 100 by the ITA. Greco won 6-1, 6-4 as the Hoyas took a 3-0 lead.

James Madison came roaring back with a win at No. 2, but Tehrani sealed the match with a victory at No. 4, 6-2, 6-2, as the Hoyas went on to win 4-3.

Georgetown will be back in action on Saturday as the squad takes on Cincinnati in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va.
