WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's tennis squad swept the Lehigh University Mountain Hawks, 7-0, at the Lewis Tennis Center Saturday afternoon in Bethlehem, Pa. After starting the spring season with some challenging opponents, the Hoyas got on the winning track in a big way on Saturday.
The Blue & Gray started things off sweeping doubles play by an identical 8-2 decision in all three matches to pick up the point.
In singles, graduate student Stephanie Wetmore (Mississauga, Ontario/Appleby College) continued her undefeated spring with 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1. No. 2 Lauren Greco (Oakmont, Pa./Shady Side Academy) handily won, 6-1, 6-2 making the score 3-0.
The Hoyas continued to roll with No.'s 3 and 4 Tina Tehrani (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) and Vicky Sekely (Mississaga, Ontario/Lorne Park Secondary School) earning 6-0, 6-0 victories not allowing a point. Senior Alex Sebia (Plains, Pa./Scranton Prep) got the 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 5 and freshman Madeline Jaeger (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach) finished out the afternoon at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Georgetown will continue spring play with its first home match of 2011 as it takes on a talented DePaul squad on Friday at Army Navy Country Club. The match is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
