CAMDEN, N.J. - The Georgetown University women's rowing team opened its season at the Jesuit Invitational with Saint Joseph's, Boston College and Loyola (Md.) on Saturday morning, before racing against University of Pennsylvania on Saturday.
The Hoyas placed first and second in the second varsity eight race and claimed victory in the third varsity eight race.
In the first race of the day, the Hoyas varsity eight, consisting of Kayla McNeill, Erin Landy, Dasha Ryaboshapka, Lindsey Bragg, Sydney LeGuyader, Erin Carter, Amanda Savage, Haley Allen and coxswain Victoria Stulgis finished third, closely behind St. Joseph's and Boston College in a time of 7:13.9
GU would take the top two spots in the second varsity eight race with a crew of, Marissa Morgan, Angela Nelson, Carly McCaffrey, Isabel Aguirre-Kelly, Katherine Farrell, Kyla Cook, Lauren Abrams, Allie Flinn and coxswain Devon O'Brien took the top spot in 7:11.0. The Hoyas lightweight eight lineup of Clare Southern, Kate Finnerty, Victoria Stutz, Maggie Girard, Alena Petrella, Margi Emhof, Hannah Kittel, Emma Ciccotti and coxswain Libby Hambleton finished in 7:15.6.
The Hoyas varsity four of Kelsey Wilson, Claire Murphy, Jackie Fogarty, Alex Guyton and coxswain Alex San Jose finished second to St. Joe's in a time of 8:26.4. During the morning races the Hoyas third varsity eight of Rachel Gary, Anna Drabek, Jacqui Snell, Maureen O'Connor, Kate Hale, Isabel Baker, Tegan Campia, Helen Burdett and coxswain Mikaela Medeiros earned a victory with a time of 7:27.4 to defeat Boston College and Saint Joseph's.
Georgetown also raced six boats in the afternoon against Penn.
