Georgetown Blanks Longwood in Women's Tennis

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's tennis team posted a 7-0 victory over Longwood University on Friday afternoon at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex. The Hoyas won eight of nine matches to improve to 7-8 on the season.

Georgetown picked up two victories in doubles play to get the point. Graduate student Stephanie Wetmore and partner freshman Tina Tehrani won, 8-4, at No.1, while sophomore Vicky Sekely and junior Lauren Greco managed the 8-3 win at No. 2.

In singles play, the Hoyas ran the table with only one match going three sets. Wetmore, Greco and Sekely were victorious at No. 1, 2 and 3. Sophomore Alexandra Landers picked up the 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 6 prior to Tehrani winning the first set, 6-0, before her opponent retired. Freshman Madeline Jaeger made it a clean sweep with the 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 decision making the final 7-0.

Georgetown will be back in action on Friday against BIG EAST-foe Seton Hall at home at 2 p.m.
