Georgetown Concludes Regular Season with 6-0 Victory

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's tennis team concluded regular season play on Wednesday afternoon with a 6-0 victory against the Villanova University Wildcats. The Hoyas concluded the year 11-8 overall and 7-2 in BIG EAST play marking one of the best conference finishes for the Blue & Gray in program history.

The teams agreed to skip doubles play going right into singles competition where the Hoyas swept.

Graduate student Stephanie Wetmore started strong with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No.1, while freshman Tina Tehrani won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3. Junior Lauren Greco then added the victory at No. 2 by a score of 6-2, 6-3. Senior Alex Sebia, playing in her final regular-season match, clinched the victory at No. 5 winning 6-1, 6-0.

Rounding out the scoring was No. 4 freshman Madeline Jaeger and No. 6 sophomore Samantha Martin making the final 6-0.

The Hoyas will wait for the BIG EAST selections to be announced to find out their pairings in the conference tournament which will be held in South Bend, Ind., beginning on April 28.
