WASHINGTON - Following three days of races, the Georgetown University sailing team finishes fourth at the ICSA Gill Coed National Championships held on the Columbia River in Cascade Locks, Ore. The three-day championship came to an end late on Wednesday evening and was followed by a banquet to honor the student-athletes competing.
With 14 races in each division the Hoyas made a comeback from ninth place up to fourth on the final day with a stellar performance from the Blue & Gray in the A division.
In the A division, Georgetown posted the lowest score with 81 points followed by the Seahawks of St. Mary's (90), Boston College (95), Hobart & William Smith (95) and Roger Williams (108).
Boston College won the regatta handily with the combination of its third-place A division points and a 66 in the B division, the best score in B, besting the likes of Harvard (75), Hobart & William Smith (93) and Charleston (108).
The fourth-place standing bests the fifth-place showing the Hoyas had one year ago in Madison, Wis., on Lake Mendota.
