WASHINGTON - Georgetown University sophomore forward Steve Neumann (New Hope, Pa./Council Rock North) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. The Hoyas went 2-1 last week and Neumann scored three goals.
Neumann had two goals in the 2-0 victory over Radford on Friday. The goals were just one minute and 19 seconds apart helping the Blue & Gray to its first win of the season. On Sunday, he added a third goal scoring in overtime to defeat Stanford. Neumann has now scored all three goals for Georgetown so far this season.
The forward was a Second Team All-BIG EAST selection last year and earned a spot on two national all-rookie squads as well as an all-region honor after an impressive freshman campaign. The forward led the squad in scoring with 10 goals and eight assists for 28 points. His ten goals were off of just 15 shots on goal and his eight assists ranked him second on the squad.
Neumann came off of the bench in all 19 contests and appeared in all 20. He led the BIG EAST in points per game with 1.40 and points with 28. He ranked second in goals with 10 and fifth in assists with eight. His four game winners tied him for third in the conference. Neumann was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week twice this season and earned a spot on the conference's All-Rookie Team.
The Blue & Gray will have the week off before a challenging weekend against Big 10 rivals in Michigan. Georgetown will face Michigan State University on Friday at 5 p.m., ET and the then the University of Michigan on Sunday at 2 p.m., ET.
