WASHINGTON - Georgetown University junior women's golfer Katie Skinner (Boise, Idaho/Bishop Kelly) posted back-to-back rounds of 3-over par 75 and helped lead the Hoyas to a 15th place finish at the Kiawah Island Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston in Kiawah Island, S.C.
The Hoyas finished with a three-day, 54-hole total of 67-over par 931 to tie for 15th place with Longwood University, one stroke behind BIG EAST rival St. John's (66-over par 930), two behind 13th place Bucknell (65-over par 929) and just 10 shots off the pace of 10th place Chattanooga (57-over par 921).
The Blue & Gray struggled in the first round with a 36-over par 324, but bounced back in the second round with a 13-over par 301 and followed that up with an 18-over par 306.
Senior Eunae Jo (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) led Georgetown, finishing in a tie for 43rd place at 14-over par 230, posting scores of 4-over par 76 in the final two rounds, respectively.
After shooting a 12-over par 84 in the first round, Skinner bounced back with consecutive scores of 3-over par 75 and tied for 63rd place at 18-over par 234. She was joined in a tie for 63rd place by sophomore teammate Alice Choi (Whitestone, N.Y./Bayside). Choi, who also shot a 12-over par 84 in the first round, had the teams best round of the tournament - a 1-over par 73 - in the second round - and shot a 5-over par 77 in the final round.
Senior Joan Dulieu (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Detroit Country Day) tied for 77th place at 19-over par 235, with scores of 7-over par 79, 6-over par 78 and 6-over par 78, respectively.
Junior Audrey Dalton (Portland, Ore.) finished in 154th place with a 33-over par 249.
Georgetown is back in action next week, playing in the Hurricane Invitational at the University of Miami on Monday, March 5 and Tuesday, March. 6.
