Sailing World Magazine has ranked the Georgetown University Women's Sailing Team #1 in its most recent Coaches Poll. The team garnered 14 first place votes of the 15 ballots cast. Yale is ranked second while the defending Women's National Champion, University of Rhode Island, is ranked third. These rankings reflect two consecutive winning weekends by the Hoya Women's Team and this is the first time the Women's squad has been ranked number one since 2008.
On the coed side, the Blue & Gray have been ranked #2 just a few ranking points behind Yale. After several successful efforts at Team Race Interconference events this spring, this marks this highest ranking for the Coed Team in the 2011-2012 season. Georgetown sailing hopes to defend their place in the rankings at two major events this weekend, the Admiral Moore Team Race at SUNY Maritime and the Szambecki Memorial Team Race at Old Dominion.
