BARCELONA, Spain - The team has arrived in Barcelona!
The trip went very smoothly for the most part. The flight from Dulles to Frankfurt was quite long (about seven hours), but everyone survived.
The German airport looks like an American airport, although there are little glass cubicles throughout that say "Camel Zone", where people literally hotbox the cubicles with cigarette smoke.
The average height here in Germany must be around six foot, because everyone in this airport seems to be huge.
Germany to Spain was about 90 minutes on the plane, then we hopped on the Excel travel bus and drove through parts of Barcelona to our hotel.
We visited a cool park near the hotel and it was amazing. There were little kids playing soccer on the outdoor basketball court, and older men playing cricket on the same court. It was great. We shook our legs out around the park, playing street soccer and soccer tennis.
After our training, we walked around the area nearby our hotel, and took a look at all of the shops. Not many were open because it was around lunch time.
Finally, we went to the Barcelona vs. Sporting Gijon, which was also sensational. The stadium is supposed to hold around 99,000, and it looked pretty packed tonight although Sporting Gijon is at the bottom of the league. The stadium sits up on a mountain, and because we were sitting so high up, we could see a lot of Barcelona.
Adios!
