No. 5/11 Georgetown Travels to Pitt on Saturday

WASHINGTON - The No. 9/15 Georgetown University men's soccer team will travel to Pittsburgh, Pa., for a BIG EAST Blue Division showdown on Saturday with the University of Pittsburgh Panthers at Ambrose Urbanic Field. It will mark the second conference matchup for the Blue & Gray who are 9-0-1 overall and 1-0-0 in BIG EAST play for its best start in program history.

On Tuesday, the Hoyas downed the James Madison University Dukes, 1-0, in Harrisonburg, Va., on a Tom Skelly (Albuquerque, N.M./Shattuck-St. Mary's) goal in the 62nd minute. It snapped a 15-game home unbeaten streak for the Dukes.

The Blue & Gray has played a lot of minutes this season appearing in four overtime contests with one going into double OT. The squad has a record of 3-0-1 in extra time.

Leading the way for Georgetown is freshman forward Brandon Allen (Old Bridge, N.J./St. Joseph's) who has 14 points with six goals including a BIG EAST-high five game winners as well as two assists. Senior Andy Riemer (McLean, Va./Georgetown Prep) has 10 points on five goals, while junior Steve Neumann (New Hope, Pa./Council Rock North) has six points with a goal and a team-high four assists.

In the net, sophomore Tomas Gomez (Webster Groves, Mo./Webster Groves) has played in seven games with 23 saves and two shutouts to his credit. Junior Keon Parsa (West Hills, Calif./El Camino Real) has appeared in three games, including the last two victories, and has 16 saves along with three shutouts on the year.

Pitt (6-2-2) has dropped its last two contests after starting the season unbeaten through its first eight games. The squad has scored 15 goals in 10 games, one more strike than registered in all of last season's 18 games.

Freshman Nick Wysong and junior Nico Wrobel have scored five goals apiece for the Panthers this season, while five other players have scored a goal each. Sophomore goalkeeper Lee Johnston has 45 saves and is ranked ssecond in the Big East.

Georgetown is 20-5 all-time against the Panthers. The last meeting was a season ago at home where the Hoyas won, 6-2. The last meeting on the road was a 1-0 Georgetown victory in 2010.
