Volleyball Surpasses Fundraising Goal From Friday's Dig Pink Match

Oct. 21, 2013

WASHINGTON - During Friday night's Dig Pink match, to increase awareness and education for breast cancer research, the Georgetown volleyball team raised an outstanding $962 through fundraising efforts both online and at McDonough Arena.

"I am extremely pleased with the outcome of our Side-Out event this year,: Georgetown head coach Arlisa Williams said. "Our goal was to raise $500 and the fan support was phenomenal and for us to raise almost twice that much for such a wonderful cause is a huge accomplishment for our program."

The Hoyas held a number of fundraisers before and during their match versus Seton Hall on Friday night. Georgetown staff members accepted donations at McDonough arena and sold pink "Dig Pink" t-shirt and conducted a silent auction. Items in the silent auction included various activities with players and coaches, t-shirts and balls signed by the volleyball team, a ball signed by the men's basketball team and two tickets to men's basketball games as well as several other items. All monies raised go to the Side-Out Foundation.
