WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball squad dropped a 75-55 decision to the DePaul University Blue Demons (19-9, 8-6 BIG EAST) Tuesday evening at McGrath-Phillips Arena in Chicago, Ill. The Hoyas battled, but couldn't stop DePaul's hot shooting to fall to 14-13 overall and 5-9 in BIG EAST Conference play.

DePaul jumped out to a quick lead, but the Blue & Gray answered with baskets from senior guard Sugar Rodgers (Suffolk, Va./King's Fork) and junior forward Andrea White (Lancaster, Va./Lancaster). Georgetown cut it to two on two occasions, but the Blue Demons continued to hit from the outside to stay one step ahead.

Offensive rebounds proved to be a key as senior center Vanessa Moore (Hackettstown, N.J./Pope John XXIII) battled down low and managed put backs to keep it close.

With less than ten minutes in the half, DePaul's Brittany Hrynko had an 8-0 run of her own and then the squad added to it taking the 12-point lead, 32-20.

Free throws by Rodgers and a fast break layup from White cut the lead to eight, but four scoreless minutes for the Hoyas made it 35-24.

White hit a layup with 30 seconds remaining it make it 35-26 at the break.

Two quick buckets to open the second gave the Blue Demons the 13-point lead as the Hoyas tried to chip away. Five unanswered Blue Demon points made it 50-32 as the Hoya defense tried to buckle down.

Despite the effort on both ends, Georgetown struggled to find a way to come back as DePaul started to pull away midway through the second.

Down the stretch, the Hoyas couldn't find an answer, eventually falling 75-55.

White and Rodgers led the way with 17 points apiece, while White had eight boards and Rodgers added seven rebounds and nine assists. Moore had a big night on the boards with 10 rebounds including seven on the offensive glass.

Georgetown was outrebounded, 47-41, but forced 16 DePaul turnovers. The Hoyas shot 37 percent from the floor and allowed DePaul 41 percent shooting.

Megan Regowski led the Blue Demons with 21 points as DePaul hit 12 total 3-pointers in the contest.

The Hoyas will be back in action on Saturday as the squad hosts the Marquette University Golden Eagles at 4 p.m., at McDonough Arena. Prior to tip, there will be a ceremony honoring the three seniors. Live stats and a webcast will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
