Women's Tennis Falls to BIG EAST Rival Rutgers

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's tennis team (14-6; 3-3) suffered a 7-0 loss at home to BIG EAST foe Rutgers (13-7; 7-2). The Hoyas concluded their regular season with 14 wins and a .500 mark in league play, 3-3. On the season GU recorded a 6-2 record at home.

Georgetown was unable to win any singles matches despite some very close scores. Three matches had to be decided in a third set. Victoria Sekely (Mississaga, Ontario/Lone Park Secondary School), Madeline Jaeger (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach) and Elizabeth Hamlin (Haverford, Pa./The Episcopal School) all lost in third sets.

Two other singles matches were close but ultimately ended with identical 6-4, 6-4 losses for Georgetown. Both Kelly Comolli (Newburyport, Mass./Philips Exeter Academy) and Taylor Perz (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) lost on courts two and six, respectively.

Rutgers won two of three doubles matches but the Hoya combo of Sekely and Hamlin did win at one doubles, 8-6.

Georgetown's now heads to the BIG EAST Championship held in Tampa, Fla. at University of South Florida's USF Varsity Courts.
