Oct. 13, 2014 Navy Blue & Gold Results
WASHINGTON - The Georgetown women's tennis team concluded play at the Navy Blue and Gold Invitational on Sunday. The Hoyas were one of nine teams that participated at the Invitational over the weekend. Players from Towson, Navy, Delaware, Howard, Longwood, Seton Hall, LIU Brooklyn and Mary Washington were also present.
Liselot Koenen (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) defeated Paloma Alatorre of Longwood 6-0,6-3 in the round of 32 B flight singles, freshman Daphne de Chatellus was in the same flight and she took down Caroline Mosberg of Mary Washington 6-1, 6-3.
In C flight singles, Nicole Koskovolis (Mahasset, N.Y./Manhasset) was victorious over Makaela Carlson of Navy 3-6, 6-2, 10-4. Madeline Foley (Salt Lake City, Utah/Rowland Hall St. Marks) was in the same group, she defeated Cailey Easdale of Towson 7-6 (5), 6-2. Mimi Lynham (Chevy Chase, Md./Holton-Arms) was the only Hoya in D flight singles, she emerged victorious over Brittany McBride of Mary Washington 6-4, 6-2.
In A flight doubles, the duo of Casey Marx (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) and de Chatellus made it to the semifinals round where they fell to Marine Dans and Sanne Louwers of LIU Brooklyn 8-2. In the round of 16, Marx and de Chatellus defeated Sam Droop and Noelle Kauffman 8-7 (2). They moved on to the round of 8 where they were triumphant over Umarah Mughnee and Stacey Roheman of Howard 8-5. They then fell to the LIU Brooklyn duo.
Koenen and Taylor Perz (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) found themselves in the same position as Marx and de Chatellus in A flight doubles. After moving on from the round of 16, the pair faced and defeated Shelby Harris and Alina Suyama of Mary Washington 8-4 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinal round, the pair fell to Danea Jonjic' and Arielle Shuren of Delaware 8-1.
In B 2 Flight doubles, Foley and Sophia Barnard (Mill Neck, N.Y./Portledge School) faced and defeated Mikaela Carlson and Summer Ralston of Navy 8-6 in the round of 8. They went on to win over Nicole Parker and Anna Pelak of Longwood 8-7 (4) in semifinals to move on to the championship round, where they ultimately fell to Katie Kim and Madison Shoemaker of Seton Hall.
Up next for the Hoyas is the ITA Regionals in Blacksburg, Va. The tournament runs from Oct. 16-18.
