No. 17 Hoyas Travel to No. 2 Creighton on Saturday

Oct. 24, 2014

WASHINGTON - The No. 17 Georgetown University men's soccer squad will continue BIG EAST Conference play at No. 2 Creighton University (11-1-2, 4-0-1 BIG EAST) on Saturday evening at Morrison Stadium at 8 p.m. ET. The Hoyas are currently 7-3-4 on the season and 2-2-1 in BIG EAST Conference play. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.

The Hoyas dropped a pair of games last week. Georgetown fell to Providence College, 2-0, at Shaw Field on Wednesday, before suffering a 1-0 decision at Seton Hall University on Saturday.

Junior forward Brandon Allen (Old Bridge, N.J./St. Joseph) leads the team and the conference in scoring with 20 points on nine goals and two assists. Sophomore forward Alex Muyl (New York, N.Y./Bard) is second on the team with ten points and a league-best six assists, while senior midfielder Tyler Rudy (Olney, Md./Sherwood), freshman midfielder Arun Basuljevic (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac), sophomore midfielder Bakie Goodman (Sarasota, Fla./Pine View School for the Gifted) and senior midfielder Austin Martz (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) are tied for third with four points apiece. Senior goalkeeper Tomas Gomez (Webster Groves, Mo./Webster Groves) has seven shutouts on the season and has tallied 34 saves so far this year.

After a 1-0-1 BIG EAST road trip last week, Creighton stands alone in first place in the league as the lone unbeaten, four-win team after five matches of conference play. The Bluejays enter the match on a seven-game unbeaten streak after a 1-1 draw at Xavier last Saturday. All four of the Bluejays' conference wins have been by a single goal this year.

Georgetown is 0-2-1 all-time against the Bluejays, and fell, 3-2, in overtime the last time the squad played in Omaha, Neb., during the 2006 season.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Live stats will be available through the Bluejays' athletic website.

The game will also be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
