The Georgetown University women's golf team put all five of its golfers among the top-15 overall and the Hoyas shot a 24-over par 312 in the final round to win the University of Delaware Invitational, played at the par-72, 6,180-yard Rehoboth Beach Country Club.
The Hoyas finished the two-day, 54-hole tournament with a score of 58-over par 922, five shots of ahead of second place Penn (63-over par 927) and 19 shots ahead of host Delaware, who finished third at 77-over par 941. Towson placed fourth (92-over par 956) and Richmond finished in fifth place (107-over par 971).
The win was the fourth tournament win in program history and the first under Head Coach Katie Brophy. The Hoyas last tournament win was in March 2009 at the NIU Snowbird Intercollegiate.
The Hoyas were led by junior Mackenzie Boydston (Keller, Texas/Nolan Catholic), who finished in fourth place at 14-over par 230. She posted consecutive scores of 4-over par 76 on Saturday and closed out with a 6-over par 78.
Freshman Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass./The Taft School) and junior Patricia Lee (Lone Tree, Colo./Highlands Ranch) tied for fifth place with scores of 15-over par 231. Both players shot a 6-over par 78 on Sunday.
Freshman Lauren Gros (Windermere, Fla./Windermere Prep) posted the team's fourth score of 6-over par 78 on Sunday and finished in a tie for seventh place at 16-over par 232.
Senior Liz DiVincentis (Durham, Conn./Coginchaug Regional), who fired a 3-over par 75 in the second round, shot a 7-over par 79 in Sunday's final round and tied for 11th place at 21-over par 237.
Freshman Christine Schmitt (Pittsford, N.Y./Mercy), competing as an individual, tied for 32nd place at 32-over par 248.
