Georgetown Hosts Loyola (Md.) on Wednesday

Nov. 18, 2014

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will host the Loyola University (Md.) Greyhounds (0-2) on Wednesday at McDonough Arena at 8 p.m. The Hoyas are currently 1-1 on the season and won their home opener at McDonough last Friday.

Freshman guard Dorothy Adomako (Midlothian, Va./Cosby) was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week and junior forward Dominique Vitalis (Bloomfield, N.J./Gill St. Bernard) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday after an outstanding start to the season for both the Hoyas. These were the conference's first weekly awards of the 2014-15 season.

Adomako became the second-straight Georgetown rookie to tally a double-double in her collegiate debut with a 17-point, 14-rebound showing in Friday's 88-75 home win over the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore (UMES). The BIG EAST Preseason Freshman of the Year followed that performance up with 11 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two assists at the University of Richmond in a 65-57 loss on Sunday.

Vitalis recorded her second-career double-double in the Hoyas' season-opening win over UMES with 19 points and 10 rebounds. She followed with another 19-point showing at Richmond, adding eight rebounds and a pair of blocks.

Vitalis is leading the team in scoring with 19.0 ppg and is second on the boards with 9.0 rpg. Adomako is second with 14.0 ppg as well as a squad-best 12.5 rpg and junior guard Brittany Horne (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel) rounds out the top three with 13.5 ppg and 6.5 rpg, respectively.

Georgetown holds a +9.0 rebounding margin over opponents and is shooting 34.5 percent on the season.

The Retrievers are 0-2 on the season after falling to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, 81-58, in the home opener and the College of William & Mary, 72-71, on the road. Leading the way for Loyola is Colleen Marshall who is averaging 23.0 ppg and 4.5 rpg. Jeneh Perry is adding 9.0 ppg and a squad-high 12.5 rpg.

The Hoyas are 9-3 all-time against the Greyhounds with a mark of 5-1 at home. GU has won the past seven meetings including the last game at McDonough occurring during the 2003-04 season where the Blue & Gray managed the 70-53 victory.

Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. Live stats and a webcast featuring Ben Gordon-Goldstein and Ryan Sakamoto will be available at www.GUHoyas.com. Tickets are available at the door or online through www.WeAreGeorgetown.com.
