Nov. 24, 2014 WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's soccer team was one of 279 men's programs in the nation to earn the 2013-14 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award. The organization annually recognizes those programs that have excelled in the classroom. The Hoyas were one of 188 schools to have both their men's and women's teams honored.
A total of 861 college teams were recognized for having a cumulative grade-point average over a 3.0 for the 2013-14 academic year.
The eighth-seeded Hoyas will host the Syracuse University Orange on Sunday afternoon in the third round of the NCAA Tournament at Shaw Field at 1 p.m. The Hoyas are 13-4-4 on the season and earned a bye in the first round of the tournament.
Georgetown's NCAA Tournament berth is the fourth under Head Coach Brian Wiese, and sixth overall for the Hoya program.
This past Sunday, the Hoyas advanced in the NCAA Tournament with a 2-1 double overtime victory over Old Dominion University on a late goal by freshman midfielder Arun Basuljevic (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac).
