WASHINGTON - The Georgetown women's tennis team (1-7, 0-2 BIG EAST) fell on Friday, 7-0, in a BIG EAST matchup against No. 45 DePaul (10-1, 1-0 BIG EAST). The match was played at Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria, Va.
The Hoyas dropped their second-straight BIG EAST match in a tough loss on Friday.
Senior co-captain Madeline Jaeger (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach) played in the No. 1 position for GU for the first time this spring, but she dropped her match in straight sets.
Freshman Victoire Saperstein (Las Vegas, Nev./Odyssey Charter School) lost a tough first set to DePaul's Ana Vladutu, but came back to take the second set, 6-4. Saperstein dropped the third set, 6-3, in the only three-set match on Friday.
Freshman Madeline Foley (Salt Lake City, Utah/Rowland Hall St. Marks) played in her first spring duals match of the season. She faced DePaul's Rebeca Mitrea in the No. 6 position. Foley fell to Mitrea, 6-2, 6-0. Foley won two matches in the fall of her freshman campaign.
The Hoyas look to bounce back tomorrow, Sat., Feb. 22 at Mount Vernon Athletic Club in Alexandria, Va. when they take on the Montana State Bobcats. Play is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
