The Georgetown women's golf team shot a 26-over par 314 in the first round of play at the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by James Madison University, is being played at Eagle Landing Golf Club (Par 72 - 6,208 yards) in Orange Park, Fla.
In sunny weather with even stronger winds than Friday, George State had a 9-over 297 in the second round to move into the lead at 13-over 589, three shots ahead of opening-round leader Delaware at 16-over 592. Elon remains third another shot back at 17-over 593, with Samford and Southern Illinois tied for fourth at 20-over 596. Samford posted the best round of the second day, shooting a 5-over 293 to post the best score by four shots.
Southern Illinois's Cassie Rushing is the 36-hole individual leader after a 2-under 70 has her at 1-under 143, the only player under par. Tiffany Chan of Daytona State and Elon's Sunna Vidisdottir are one-shot back at even-par 144, with 14 players within three shots of the lead entering the final day.
Sophomore Mackenzie Boydston (Keller, Texas/Nolan Catholic) and freshman Jenny Xiao (Foshan, China/Foshan No. 2 Middle School) are the team leaders for Georgetown, tying for 54th place at 12-over par 156.
Sophomore Liz DiVincentis (Durham, Conn/Coginchaug Regional) is tied for 74th place at 18-over par 162.
