WASHINGTON - The Georgetown women's tennis team (7-7, 1-2 BIG EAST) swept the Providence Friars (4-8, 0-2 BIG EAST) in a BIG EAST matchup on Saturday afternoon, 7-0, on the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Courts on Georgetown's main campus.

The win came as the sixth-straight for Georgetown and the first sweep on the year.

The Hoyas only dropped one doubles match, but still came away with the point before heading into singles play.

Freshman Victoire Saperstein (Las Vegas, Nev./Odyssey Charter School) earned a No. 1 position victory over Providence's Maria Clara Bernardez in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. It was Saperstein's fourth No. 1 position victory and she has now won her last two matches from that spot. She owns a 7-4 mark on the duals season.

Senior co-captain Kelly Comolli (Newburyport, Mass./Phillips Exeter Academy) won in the No. 2 position for the Hoyas with a straight set victory, 6-1, 6-3. Comolli is on a four-match winning streak that has brought her overall duals record up to 6-8 and a 4-3 mark from the No. 2 spot.

Fellow senior co-captain Madeline Jaeger (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach) grabbed a No. 3 position win, 6-1, 6-3 for her seventh duals victory, bringing her back to a 7-7 duals mark on the season.

Freshman Sophia Barnard (Mill Neck, N.Y./Portledge School) won in the No. 4 position after an injury forced Providence's Karen Ramirez to retire for the afternoon.

Junior Sophie Panarese (Milton, Mass./Milton Academy) and sophomore Liselot Koenen (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) won in the No. 5 and 6 positions for the Hoyas, respectively, on Saturday afternoon. Both won in straight sets to mark the trend of all Georgetown women winning in straight sets on the day.

The women look to win their seventh-straight match on Fri., March 28 when they host James Madison in a non-conference matchup in Arlington, Va. at the Arlington YMCA. Play is set to begin at 11 a.m. ET.
