WASHINGTON - Junior co-captain Lauren Saar (Richland, Mich./Plainwell) of the Georgetown volleyball team has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, as announced by the conference on Monday. The award recognizes Saar's performance this past weekend in Georgetown's three matches at the D.C. Challenge.

Saar opened the 2014 campaign by totaling 32 kills and 38 digs, averaging 3.2 kills per set and 3.8 digs per set, helping lead the Hoyas to a 2-1 record in its first three matches. She started the weekend with 11 kills and 10 digs in a tough, three-set loss to No. 24 American. She put together her second double-double effort with 11 kills and 20 digs in a 3-1 victory win over George Mason on Saturday. Against Howard, Saar reached double digits in kills for the third-straight match, finishing with 10 kills and eight digs, along with two blocks in a three-set win. She was named to the D.C. Challenge All-Tournament Team.

This is Georgetown's first weekly award of the season and second-career honor for Saar. She was also named to the Honor Roll last season on November 4.

The Blue & Gray return to action next weekend when they travel to Philadelphia for the Crown Plaza Philadelphia West Invitational, hosted by Penn. The Hoyas will take on Cleveland State on Friday afternoon before playing Colgate and Penn on Saturday.
