Feb. 11, 2015 WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's golf team played an early spring event against the University of Richmond this past weekend at the Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Va.
Taking advantage of an unusually warm, winter day, the Hoyas and Spiders played an 18-hole round, with the hosts posting a 318, and Georgetown shooting a 32-over par 320. The Hoyas took home the trophy as the match format was 7 vs. 7.
Junior Patricia Lee (Lone Tree, Colo./Highlands Ranch) posted Georgetown's best round, with a 6-over par 78, while classmate Mackenzie Boydston (Keller, Texas/Nolan Catholic) shot a 7-over par 79.
Freshman Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass./The Taft School) carded a 9-over par 81, freshman Lauren Gros (Windermere, Fla./Windermere Prep) and sophomore Jenny Xiao (Foshan, China/Foshan No. 3 Middle School) each posted scores of 10-over par 82 and senior Liz DiVincentis (Durham, Conn./Coginchaug Regional) finished at 15-over par 87.
Sophomore Kelly Hwang (Moorestown, N.J./IMG Academy) played to an 18-over par 90 and freshman Christine Schmitt (Pittsford, N.Y./Mercy) shot a 19-over par 91.
Georgetown begins tournament play for the spring season on March 1 at the Kiawah Island Invitational in South Carolina.
