Women's Golf in First Place at Lady Thunderbird Invitational

The Georgetown University women's golf team fired an 11-over par 299 and holds an eight-shot lead over the field of 14 teams after the first round of play at the Lady Thunderbird Invitational, being hosted by Southern Utah University at Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George, Utah.

Freshman Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass./The Taft School) has the individual lead in the tournament, firing a 3-under par 69 in the first round to top the field of 87 golfers.

Eleey is one of three Hoyas in the top-20, joined by freshman Lauren Gros (Windermere, Fla./Windermere Prep), who shot an even-par 72 and is tied for third place and sophomore Jenny Xiao (Foshan, China/Foshan No. 3 Middle School), who posted a 6-over par 78 and is tied for 17th place.

Junior Patricia Lee (Lone Tree, Colo./Highlands Ranch) is in a tie for 36th place at 8-over par 870 and junior Mackenzie Boydston (Keller, Texas/Nolan Catholic) is tied for 54th place at 10-over par 82.

The final round will be played on Friday.
