Kiawah Classic 1
The Georgetown University women's golf team shot a 26-over par 314 and is tied for 13th place after the first round of play at the Kiawah Island Classic, being hosted by the College of Charleston. The teams are playing at the par 72, 5,964-yard Osprey Point course in South Carolina.
The Hoyas are tied for 13th place with the College of William & Mary in the field of 40 teams. Battling rainy and cold conditions on Sunday, North Florida took the team lead at 9-over par 297, with Troy in second place at 10-over par 298, host Charleston and Western Carolina tied for third place at 12-over par 300 and Chattanooga fifth at 13-over par 301.
Freshman Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass./The Taft School) is Georgetown's top finisher, standing in a tied for 29th place in the field of 208 golfers at 4-over par 76.
Junior Mackenzie Boydston (Keller, Texas/Nolan Catholic) and freshman Lauren Gros (Windermere, Fla./Windermere Prep) are tied for 61st place at 7-over par 79.
Sophomore Jenny Xiao (Foshan, China/Foshan No. 3 Middle School) is tied for 75th place at 8-over par 80 and junior Patricia Lee (Lone Tree, Colo./Highlands Ranch) shot a 9-over par 81 and is tied for 99th place.
Day two of the Kiawah Island Classic starts at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
