April 13, 2015 ARDMORE, Pa. - The Georgetown University men's golf team finished ninth overall after two rounds at the Princeton Invitational. The Hoyas shot a team score of 26-over par 306 in the second round at the par 70, 6,502-yard Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa.
The Hoyas, playing on a second course in as many days, slid by eight strokes over the final 18 holes to finish with a team score of 604, four strokes behind seventh place finishers Saint Joseph's and St. John's.
Freshman Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood/Cardinal Gibbons (Fla.)) shot a five-over par 75 to finish with a six-over par 146 tying for 17th overall, seven strokes behind the individual champion. Freshman Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./The Haverford School) finished with an eight-over par 148, good for 23rd overall.
Sophomore Austin Rendell (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) and freshman Jack Musgrave (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean) tied for 41st overall, each carding 15-over par 155's during the 36-hole invitational. Senior Greg Podufal (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) rounded out the Georgetown golfers with a two-day score of 157 to tie for 50th overall.
Yale earned the team title with a final score of 571 with four golfers placing in the top 10. Temple and Seton Hall tied for second with team scores of 586. Temple's Brandon Matthews finished with a one-under par 139 to win the individual title.
Georgetown returns to action on Saturday, April 18 when they travel to State College, Pa., to take part in two-day Rutherford Collegiate hosted by Penn State University.
