2015 Schedule

WASHINGTON - Georgetown Head Volleyball Coach Arlisa Williams has announced the Hoyas' upcoming schedule for the 2015 season. GU will play 12 matches in non-conference competition before opening its 18-match BIG EAST schedule. Included on the 2015 slate are matchups with four teams that appeared in the 2014 NCAA Tournament.

"I am very excited for our competitive schedule this fall," Williams said. "With four teams in last year's NCAA Tournament, two in the non-conference, I believe we have put together a challenging non-conference portion that will prepare us for BIG EAST Conference play."

For the 10th-straight year, the Hoyas will open the season with the D.C. Challenge, Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29, competing against George Mason, American and Howard. The Hoyas are hoping to repeat last year's results where they came away with victories over both the Patriots and Bison, falling only to then-No. 24 American. This season, Georgetown will open play on Friday against George Mason at 5 p.m. at American before facing American (11 a.m.) and Howard (5 p.m.) on Saturday at George Mason.

The Hoyas will travel to Fordham University to participate in the Rose Hill Classic on the weekend of September 4-5, taking on Robert Morris, Fordham, and Niagara. The Blue & Gray will take on Robert Morris (10:30 a.m.) and the host Rams (7 p.m.) on Friday before concluding the weekend against Niagara (10:30 a.m.) on Saturday.

GU will travel up I-95 to Baltimore on Tuesday, September 8 for a midweek matchup at Morgan State University. First serve is set for 7 p.m.

The Blue & Gray then heads to the Midwest to participate in the UW-Madison Tournament. GU will play Kent State University at 5 p.m. ET on Friday, September 10 before taking on the University of Georgia at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 11.

The Hoyas will look to avenge their 2014 loss when they host D.C.-rival George Washington University in the first home match of the season at McDonough Arena on Wednesday, September 16 at 7 p.m.

The Blue & Gray will head back on the road for the last non-conference event, playing in the James Madison Tournament on September 18-19. Georgetown will take on North Carolina Central (1 p.m.) and James Madison (7 p.m.) on Friday before matching up with Norfolk State (12:30 p.m.) to conclude the weekend on Saturday.

Georgetown will open BIG EAST play with two home matches, starting with a 7 p.m. matchup on Friday September 25 against Villanova. On Sunday, September 27 GU will play Seton Hall at 2 p.m. The Pirates received an at-large bid to the 2014 NCAA Tournament after finishing runner up in the BIG EAST Championship.

The Hoyas will play three-consecutive away matches against Providence (Friday, October 2, 7 p.m.), St. John's (Saturday, October 3, 5 p.m.) and Creighton (Tuesday, October 9, 8 p.m. ET). Creighton won the 2014 BIG EAST regular season title with a 16-2 conference record before defeating Seton Hall in the BIG EAST Championship match. Following the road trip, Georgetown will host Marquette (Friday, October 9, 7 p.m.) and DePaul (Sunday, October 11, 2 p.m.) in McDonough Arena. Last fall, the Hoyas swept both matches from the Blue Demons, including a 3-2 thrilling victory at home. Marquette lost in the semifinals of the 2014 BIG EAST Championship, but received an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament.

Georgetown will go on the road for weekend matches at Xavier (Friday, October 16, 3 p.m.) and Butler (Saturday, October 17, 6 p.m.). Xavier made it to the semifinals of the BIG EAST Championship, losing to the eventual champion, Creighton.

GU will then play St. John's (Friday, October 23, 8 p.m.) and Providence (Sunday, October 25, 2 p.m.) on the Hilltop before heading out on a a four-match road trip against Seton Hall (Friday, October 30, 7 p.m.), Villanova (Saturday, October 31, 7 p.m.), DePaul (Friday, November 6, 7 p.m.) and Marquette (Saturday, November 8, 7 p.m.).

The Blue & Gray will finish its regular season play with three home matches at McDonough arena on Nov. 13 against Butler at 8 p.m., Nov. 15 against Xavier at 1 p.m. and Nov. 20 against Creighton at 8 p.m.
