May 29, 2015 WASHINGTON - Head Coach Arlisa Williams has announced the addition of seven student-athletes to the Georgetown volleyball roster. The seven members of the Georgetown Class of 2019, hailing from six different states, will join the team this fall for the upcoming 2015 season.
Prepvolleyball.com ranks the seven new Hoyas as the 29th-ranked recruiting class out of 332 Division I volleyball programs in the country.
"We are super excited about the addition of these seven players to the Georgetown Volleyball Family," Williams said. "We have an opportunity to make monumental changes and these talented, high character young women, along with the core that we have returning, are going to play a major part in making that happen."
Somto Egbuonu

Grand Prairie, Texas | South Grand Prairie
Egbuonu comes to Georgetown after being a four-year starter at South Grand Prairie High School. She served as a team captain during her senior year in 2014. As a sophomore in 2012, Egbuonu was named to the all-district second team and earned South Grand Prairie's Best Offensive Player Award. In the classroom, Egbuonu was a two-time member of the honor roll and was named to the all-district academic team as a senior.
Kenzie Higareda

Woodbridge, Va. | Forest Park
Higareda, ranked among Prepvolleyball.com's Senior Aces top 250 and labeled a Defensive Dandy, comes to the Hilltop after playing four years of varsity volleyball and lacrosse at Forest Park High School, serving as a team captain for both squads as a senior. She led the Forest Park volleyball team to two district championships as well as one conference championship. Following her senior season, Higareda was named the Conference 4A Player of the Year. Higareda also earned first team all-region honors as both a sophomore and a junior and was selected first team all-state as a junior. She holds the Virginia state record with 1,913 career digs. Higareda also played on the USA Youth National Team in 2012. On the lacrosse field, Higareda scored 102 goals through her first three seasons and collected 144 ground balls and 73 draw controls. In the classroom, Higareda was a two-time National Honor Society nominee and received the 2011 Presidents Education Award. Her older sister, Kirsten, played volleyball at Virginia Tech from 2008-11.
Olivia King

Ardmore, Pa. | Lower Merion
King arrives at Georgetown after a four-year career on the Lower Merion High School volleyball team, where she served as a team captain for two seasons. She was named the Offensive Most Valuable Player in each of her sophomore, junior and senior seasons and earned first team all-state honors in both 2014 and 2015. She totaled 1,169 kills in her career with a .279 hitting percentage an amazing 751 service aces and 114 total blocks. As a senior, King finished with 452 kills, an average of 5.7 kills per set, 291 service aces and 45 total blocks with 33 being of the solo variety. In the classroom, King was an honor roll student and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Paige McKnight

McKnight, ranked No. 91 among Prepvolleyball.com's Senior Aces, will join the Hoyas after starting for four years at Dunwoody High School as a setter and right-side hitter. She served as a team captain during both her junior and senior seasons. After being named Dunwoody's Rookie of the Year as a freshman, McKnight earned Most Valuable Player honors her sophomore, junior and senior years. She was named all-state as both a junior and a senior and was named the Georgia AAAAA Player of the Year and the 2014 Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year following her senior season. McKnight was also named a Second Team All-American after her 2014 season with A5 Volleyball Club. She helped lead Dunwoody to regional championships and Georgia AAAAA Final Four appearances in both 2013 and 2014. For her career, McKnight totaled 1,419 assists, 1,165 kills, 848 digs, 381 service aces and 126.5 total blocks. Off the court, she was a member of the National Honor Society. McNight's mother, Julie (Beiter) McKnight played volleyball at Georgetown from 1985-89 and her aunt, Jill (Beiter) Adams, played volleyball at Villanova from 1986-90.
Alyssa Sinnette

Sinnette, ranked among Prepvolleyball.com's Senior Aces top 250, will put on a Hoya uniform after playing three years of varsity volleyball at Dawson High School, serving as a team captain for all three seasons. Sinnette was a three-time first team all-district selection, 2012-14, and was named to the Greater Houston Volleyball Coaches Association All-Star Team in 2015. She helped lead Dawson to the 4A Conference regional quarterfinals in 2012 and the semifinals in 2013 as well as the round of 32 in the 2014 state playoffs. Sinnette finished her career at Dawson with 1,337 kills, 474 digs, 119 service aces and 123 blocks. Off the volleyball court, Sinnette also played a year of varsity soccer and was on the track & field team for a season.
Symone Speech

Oak Park, Ill. | Oak Park-River Forest
Speech, ranked No. 67 among Prepvolleyball.com's Senior Aces, joins the Georgetown volleyball program after a very successful high school career, helping lead Oak River-River Forest High School to a pair of regional championships in 2013-14 and a sectional championship in 2013. Additionally, Speech's club team, 1st Alliance, won the BIG South Championship in 2012 and the President's Day Challenge in 2014. Individually, Speech was named to all-conference teams in 2013 and 2014 and was named an All-American in 2012 and 2014. In 2014, as a senior, Speech finished with 269 kills in 90 sets, an average of 2.99 kills per set, while hitting at a .340 clip. She also had 33 service aces and 57 solo blocks.
Mariana Sullivan
5-11 | RS/OH
Bronxville, N.Y. | Chapin School
Sullivan comes to Georgetown being a four-year starter for the Chapin School volleyball team, serving as a team captain as a senior. She led Chapin to an 18-2 overall record as a senior and an Athletic Association of Independent Schools (AAIS) regular season championship. Sullivan also helped lead Chapin to the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) quarterfinals as a sophomore, semifinals as a junior and finals as a senior. In her final year of playing for the NYC Juniors Volleyball Club, Sullivan totaled 100 kills in 81 sets, ranking second on the team with a 1.23 kills per set average. She also had 36 service aces and her .40 blocks per set were third best on the team. In addition to volleyball, Sullivan also played basketball and squash and was a member of the track & field team and the swimming team. She holds the school record and came in third in the state with a 4-8 in the high jump. Her grandfather, Barry Sullivan, played basketball at Georgetown from 1949-52.
The Hoyas will open the 2015 season on Friday, August 28 against George Mason in the D.C. Challenge. GU will play its first home match of the season in McDonough Arena on Wednesday, September 16 against George Washington.
