WASHINGTON - Despite winning out its final three races in the second round, the Georgetown University sailing team fell just shy of advancing to the final round of competition, finishing fifth overall, at the 2015 Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) LaserPerformance Team National Championship, hosted by Brown University, Salve Regina University and the New York Yacht Club.

The Hoyas closed out the second round with wins over Roger Williams, St. Mary's College and Tufts for a 5-2 record in the second round and an overall record of 15-7, but it was not enough to clinch a berth to the final round robin as Yale (19-3), Boston College (17-5), Stanford (16-6) and Charleston (16-6) all touted stronger records.

Yale would go on to win the championship and the Walter C. Wood Trophy with an overall record of 21-4.

Georgetown utilized a roster of skippers that include Sean Golden (Duxbury, Mass./Tabor Academy), Nevin Snow (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic), Alex Post (Chicago, Ill./Loyola Academy) and AJ Reiter (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma). The crews are Isabelle Luzuriaga (Charleston, S.C./Ashley Hall), Meaghan MacRae (Melrose, Mass./Tabor Academy), Nancy Hagood (Charleston, S.C./Ashley Hall), Katia DaSilva (East Greenwich, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey), Betinna Redway (Providence, R.I./St. George's), Mary Kate Mezzetti (Hyannis, Mass./Barnstable), Elizabeth Mullarney (New York, N.Y./Sacred Heart) and Katie Olsen (East Dennis, Mass./Cape Cod Academy).

The Hoyas will continue with the final national championship of the season, competing in the 2015 ICSA Gill Coed National Championships, a four-day regatta.
