Jackson Returns to the Hilltop for Final Season

June 30, 2015

WASHINGTON - Jasmine Jackson (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) will return to the Georgetown University women's basketball team this season to play her final year of eligibility on the Hilltop. The graduate student has one year remaining after playing two seasons at Georgetown before transferring to George Mason University.

"It's great to welcome Jasmine back to the Hilltop," said Georgetown Head Coach Natasha Adair. "Her drive and toughness will help propel us back to the top of the BIG EAST. Jasmine gives us experience and versatility in the backcourt."

In her first two seasons at Georgetown, Jackson averaged 3.8 ppg as well as 1.5 rpg. She appeared in 37 games with two starts to her credit.

As a freshman during the 2011-12 season, the guard played in seven games as the Hoyas advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She earned more playing time as a sophomore appearing in 30 games and averaging 4.2 ppg as well as 1.5 rpg. Jackson also posted 30 assists and had 29 steals during the 2012-13 campaign.

She scored a then-career high 15 points at the University of Notre Dame on Jan. 15, 2013 and pulled in five rebounds on two occasions.

She transferred to George Mason and was forced to redshirt due to the NCAA transfer rules, but returned to the court for the 2014-15 season for the Patriots. At Mason, Jackson played in 28 games with 26 starts and was the team's third-leading scorer averaging 9.6 ppg and 3.7 rpg as well as posting 36 assists and 28 steals.

She scored 20 points on two occasions last season (Towson and Saint Louis) and had a career-best nine rebounds in a loss to East Tennessee State University.

Jackson will begin work on her master's degree in sports industry management in Georgetown's School of Continuing Studies. She graduated in May from Mason with a bachelor's degree in sociology.

"I'm excited to be a part of the Hoya family again," said Jackson. "I am thankful and truly blessed to have an opportunity to finish what I started."
