Georgetown Volleyball Adds Rivera, Richard to Complete 2015 Roster

WASHINGTON - Georgetown Volleyball Head Coach Arlisa Williams has announced the addition of Alexandra Rivera and Meghan Richard to the Georgetown volleyball roster. The two new Hoyas complete Georgetown's roster for the upcoming 2015 season.

Rivera joins seven members of the Georgetown Class of 2019 who will be putting on the Hoya uniform this fall. Richard comes to Georgetown after playing her freshman season at Seattle University. The sophomore will be eligible right away.

Both Rivera and Richard join an incoming class that was classified as the 29th-ranked recruiting class by Prepvolleyball.com out of 332 Division I volleyball programs in the country.

"We are excited to add two very talented, high character young women in Alexandra and Meghan to our team," Williams said. "They add depth to an already strong recruiting class and will play a major role in helping us make some monumental changes as a program."

Rivera will put on a GU uniform after playing four years of varsity volleyball at Fort Hamilton High School ... As a senior, she served as a team captain and was named her team's Most Outstanding Senior ... Rivera was also named the Fort Hamilton Tournament MVP and Seward Park Tournament All-Star ... She helped lead Fort Hamilton to back-to-back undefeated seasons and NYC Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) Division B Championships as a sophomore and junior as well as a Division A Championship as a senior ... In her final year, Rivera has 100 kills, 60 digs, 43 blocks and 26 service aces.

Richard comes to the Hilltop after playing her freshman season at Seattle University ... With the Redhawks, Richard appeared in 22 sets, registering 24 assists and seven digs ... In high school, Richard earned three varsity letters at Niwot High School, serving as the team captain as both a junior and senior ... She was named to the all-conference first team as a senior, the second team as a junior and honorable mention as a sophomore ... Richard finished her senior season ranked fourth in the state of Colorado in assists ... Niwot won 45 matches in her three years on the varsity team and reached the regional playoffs all three seasons.

The Hoyas will open the 2015 season on Friday, August 28 against George Mason in the D.C. Challenge. GU will play its first home match of the season in McDonough Arena on Wednesday, September 16 against George Washington.
