WASHINGTON - The Georgetown women's tennis team had some solid performances at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regionals this past weekend at Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center in Norfolk, Va., on the campus of Old Dominion University.

Four Hoyas appeared in the main draw, and two went on to the Round of 32 with one advancing a round further.

Senior Victoire Saperstein (Las Vegas, Nev./Odyssey Charter School) was the story of the tournament for the Hoyas as she moved on to the Round of 16 and narrowly missed the quarterfinals. Saperstein defeated Alina Abdurakhimova from Temple University, 6-1, 6-1 and then took down Hunter Bleser from the University of Virginia by a tight score of 1-6, 7-6, 7-6.

In the Round of 16, Saperstein fell to Katia Blik from Penn State 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 after being up 4-3 in the third set.

Sophomore Risa Nakagawa (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula) managed one win in the tournament, defeating Chloe Gullickson from UVA by a score of 6-3, 6-7, 7-5 before falling in the next round 6-3, 6-2.

Sophomore Cecilla Lynham (Chevy Chase, Md./Holton Arms School) played her way into the main draw with a pair of 6-4, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-4 victories in the qualifying draw. She fell 6-1, 6-3 to Holly Hutchison from Old Dominion University in the first round.

Junior Sara Swift (Vail, Colo./Saint Edward's School) also appeared in the main draw, but lost to Francesca Fusinato from Virginia Tech 6-2, 6-1.

Both doubles pairs fell in the opening round at the tournament.

Georgetown has one more tournament this fall. The team will play at the Jack Kramer Invitational in Palos Verdes, Calif., Nov. 3-6.
