WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's golf team shot a final round 12-over par 300 on Sunday and finished with a three-round score of 29-over par 893 to place second among 12 teams at the Princeton Invitational, hosted by Princeton University at Springdale Golf Club in New Jersey.
Columbia topped the 12-team field, finishing at 27-over par 891, two shots ahead of Georgetown.
The Hoyas, who were tied for second place after Saturday's opening rounds, were second at 29-over par 893, with Yale third at 33-over par 897, Dartmouth fourth at 37-over par 901 and Princeton fifth at 38-over par 902.
Junior Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass./The Taft School), who won the individual title last year, was Georgetown's top finisher, tying for fifth place at 5-over par 221. She shot a 4-over par 76 on Sunday.
Sophomore Alexa Popowitz (Boca Raton, Fla./St. Andrew's) finished in 12th place with an 8-over par 224, and sophomore Pendleton Bogache (Myrtle Beach, S.C./Episcopal [Va.]) tied for 13th place at 9-over par 225, including a 3-over par 75 in the third round.
Sophomore Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, N.J./Kent Place) and freshman Ashley Fitzgibbons (Sammamish, Wash./Eastlake Senior) both finished at 13-over par 229 and tied for 23rd place.
Freshman Kate Evanko (West Chester, Pa./Unionville), playing as an individual, shot a 31-over par 247 and tied for 57th place.
The Hoyas are back in action next weekend, playing in the Ron Moore Intercollegiate from Oct. 7-9 in Denver, Colo.
