Hoyas to Compete in Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University men's golf team will be traveling to South Bend, Indiana to compete in the 2016 Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic. The tournament is hosted by the University of Notre Dame and will take place at the Par 70- 6,713-yard Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, Ind. Georgetown returns to the Gridiron Classic for the first time since 2013. The three-day tournament begins on Sunday October 8 and will conclude on Tuesday October 10.

"We are excited about returning to The Gridiron Classic hosted by Notre Dame," said Coach Tommy Hunter. "The Warren Golf Course is a classic design which requires precision off the tee and a steady putter. The field is very strong. Playing this weekend is an opportunity to compete against some of the finest teams in the nation."

This year's field includes: Ball State, Butler, Eastern Michigan, Georgetown, Illinois State, IUPUI, Nevada, Notre Dame, San Diego, Santa Clara, Seattle, Utah State, UTEP, William & Mary and Xavier.

Georgetown is coming off a 15th place finish at the Firestone Invitational. Juniors Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./The Haverford School) and Jack Musgrave (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean) led the way shooting a 4-over par 220 to finish tied for 34th overall.
