WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's volleyball team fell 3-1 (25-21, 14-25, 25-8, 25-15) on the road at Seton Hall in BIG EAST action on Friday night. The Hoyas drop to 6-20 overall and 2-11 in league play.
Liv King (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) and Alyssa Sinnette (Pearland, Texas/Dawson) both led the Hoyas with nine kills each. Paige McKnight (Atlanta, Ga./Dunwoody) posted her 12th double-double of the season, and third-straight, with 34 assists and 11 digs.
Defensively, Ashlie Williams (Los Angeles, Calif./Marymount) paced the Blue & Gray with a match-high seven blocks at the net.
A tight first set saw the Hoyas jump to a 4-1 lead and hold a steady advantage before Seton Hall tied things up at 15-15. Battling point-for-point, an 18-18 tie turned to the Pirates' favor behind a 6-2 run en route to a 25-21 set victory.
Georgetown (13-14, 7-7 BIG EAST) responded in the second set, scoring the opening point and holding the lead the entire frame following a 1-1 draw. Outhitting the Pirates .464 to .088 in the set, the Blue & Gray put together 13 kills without committing an error in the stanza. The Hoyas capitalized on a 5-0 run mid-set and closed out the frame with a 7-4 run to claim the 25-14 victory.
Seton Hall flipped the script in the third set, winning the stanza 25-8. The Pirates hit .688 in the set while holding the Hoyas to just five kills.
The fourth set saw SHU take an early 5-1 lead before pushing it to 9-3 to force a Georgetown timeout. Seton Hall maintained their lead the rest of the way, eventually closing things out with the 25-15 win in the set.
Dominique Mason led Seton Hall with a match-high 22 kills while Abby Thelan added 11.
Georgetown returns to action on Saturday at St. John's in Queens, N.Y. The match begins at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN3, streaming live on WatchESPN and the ESPN app.
