Nov. 5, 2016 WASHINGTON - Two Georgetown University men's soccer players were named All-BIG EAST on Saturday as the conference announced its regular season awards. Junior midfielder Christopher Lema (Ridgefield, N.J./St. Stephen's Episcopal School) was named First Team All-BIG EAST and junior midfielder Arun Basuljevic (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) earned a spot on the second team.
Lema started all 17 contests for the Blue & Gray this past season. He was GU's third-leading scorer with one goal and a squad-best five assists for the year. Three of those assists came in league play. Lema was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Oct. 31 after posting two assists in a 3-2 victory over Villanova.
This is Lema's first postseason honor.
Basuljevic started all 17 games for the Hoyas in 2016. He scored two goals and had two assists for six points on the season. One goal and two of those assists came in BIG EAST play.
Basuljevic was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Oct. 3 after he scored goals in back-to-back games. He connected on a penalty kick in a 3-1 victory over American, and scored in a 4-2 loss to then-No. 7 Butler. Basuljevic was named 2016 Preseason All-BIG EAST.
This is his second-career BIG EAST postseason honor after being named First Team All-BIG EAST a season ago. As a freshman, he was the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year.
Also earning recognition was freshman defender Dylan Nealis (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) who was named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team. Nealis played in 14 games with 13 starts and posted his first-career goal in a 3-2 victory over Villanova.
The Hoyas finished the season with a mark of 6-9-2 overall and went 3-4-2 in BIG EAST Conference play to narrowly miss qualifying for the BIG EAST Tournament.
