Nov. 8, 2016 WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Men's Golf Head Coach Tommy Hunter has announced the 2017 spring schedule. The Hoyas will compete in five tournaments throughout the spring, finishing with the BIG EAST Championships, which will begin on Sunday April 30 and conclude on Tuesday, May 2 at the Callawassie Island Country Club in Charleston, S.C.
The season will begin with the three-day Slomin Autism Invitational hosted by Florida Atlantic in West Palm Beach, Fla., from March 24-26 at PGA National Resort.
On April 3-4, the Hoyas will head south again to Greenville, N.C., to compete in the East Carolina Intercollegiate at Brooke Valley Golf Club.
The Hoyas will remain in the Mid-Atlantic for back-to-back weekends when they travel to Princeton, N.J., for the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club on April 8-9, before finishing up the regular season in State College, Pa., for the Rutherford Collegiate, hosted by Penn State, at Penn State Blue Course from April 15-16. The team will then take a two-week break before the start of the BIG EAST Championships.
A fall that was filled with five tournaments allowed Georgetown to show its depth as a team with eight Hoyas carding scoring rounds overall. The Hoyas had their best result of the fall season on October 19 as they finished in second place overall at the Georgetown Intercollegiate after a 6-over par 858 performance. Junior Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood) finished the tournament in second place overall at 9-under par 204, the best individual placing for the Hoyas this fall.
