PRINCETON, N.J. - The Georgetown University men's golf team finished eighth overall in the 15-team field at the Princeton Invitational when the final round concluded on Sunday afternoon at the 71-par, 6,546 yard Springdale Golf Club. The Hoyas improved by one stroke from the first round, firing a team score of 7-over par 291 in the second round.
The Blue & Gray finished with a team score of 583 over 36 holes. Six strokes separated the eighth-place Hoyas from second-place Harvard. Duke won the tournament, finishing with a team score of 543.
Sophomore Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood[Cardinal Gibbons]) tied for seventh overall after shooting a 1-under par 70 during the second round. Madsen finished with a 1-under par 141 to lead the Hoyas. Duke's Alex Smalley won the tournament with an 8-under par 134.
Freshman Kevin Jackson (Atlanta, Ga./The Marist School) slipped back to a tie for 20th, by turning in a 3-over par 145 during the two round tournament. Freshman Harrison Rhoades (Raleigh, N.C./Needham Broughton) shot a 1-under par 70 on the second day to finish at 5-over par 147, good for a tie for 29th.
Sophomore Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./The Haverford School) and junior Austin Rendell (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) finished tied for 63rd at 12-over par 154.
The Hoyas return to action on Saturday, April 16 when they open play in the Rutherford Collegiate hosted by Penn State University.
