WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's rowing heavyweight crews will take to the friendly waters of the Potomac River this weekend, racing in the GW Invite on Friday and Saturday, April 8-9. It will be Georgetown's first non-exhibition competition of the spring.

The Hoyas, who will put three varsity 8+ crews on the water this weekend, will race against Drexel University on Friday afternoon, the University of Virginia on Saturday morning and the Naval Academy on Saturday afternoon.

Overall, Georgetown will compete against the host Colonials, Navy, Holy Cross, Drexel and Virginia for the Oliver T. Carr Bowl.

The 2,000-meter buoyed race course begins near the Spout Run area of the Potomac River with the finish line at Washington Harbour (3050 K Street, NW) in Georgetown.

"We've had a couple weeks of solid training since the scrimmage against Princeton," said Georgetown Head Coach Lucas Agnini. "The intraquad competition has been fantastic and the younger guys are making a big push. The GW invite will provide a good platform for the guys to come down the course a few times against great competition. We are anticipating foul weather for the event and the last two weeks here on the Potomac has prepared us well for it."
