Georgetown Sailing Wins Coed Dinghy National Championship

June 3, 2016

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University sailing team did it again. Just as they have 12 times prior, the Hoyas captured a national championship on Friday, this time winning the Gill Coed Dinghy National Championship, held on North San Diego Bay off the B Street Pier and hosted by the San Diego Yacht Club and the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference.

The Hoyas entered Friday's final round in second place with 134 points, five points shy of first-place Yale, who led the 18-team field with 129 points.

Behind the efforts of senior Nevin Snow (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) and sophomore Meghan MacRae (Melrose, Mass./Tabor Academy) in the A-division and senior Sean Golden (Duxbury, Mass./Tabor Academy) and senior Isabelle Ruiz De Luzuriaga (Charleston, S.C./Ashley Hall) in the B-Division, the Hoyas moved past Yale and captured the title on Friday.

This is the 13th national championship in sailing for Georgetown, all under Head Coach Mike Callahan.
