June 4, 2016 WASHINGTON - For the second-consecutive year, Nevin Snow (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) was awarded the Everett B. Morris Memorial Trophy that goes to the Marlow Ropes College Sailor of the Year. Snow is the fifth Hoya to win the honor and only the second GU sailor to twice garner the accolade.
Snow placed first with his team at the MAISA Match Race Championship, eighth at the Men's Singlehanded National Championship, second with his team at the 2016 LaserPerformance Team Race National Championship and first overall and third in A division with his team at the 2016 Gill Coed National Championship.
"This is a great accomplishment for him and he has worked really hard for it," Head Coach Michael J. Callahan said. "To win the Gill Coed Nationals and this award all in his hometown, you can't ask for a better ending."
This is the seventh Morris Trophy nod for the Hoyas in the last 11 years as Andrew Campbell earned the honor in 2006, Chris Behm in 2008, Charlie Buckingham in 2009 and 2011, Chris Barnard in 2012 and now Snow in 2015 and 2016.
The award was announced the same day the Georgetown university sailing team won its 13th national championship in program history, winning the 2016 ICSA Gill Coed National Championships.
