July 5, 2016 WASHINGTON - Georgetown University senior women's golfer Mackenzie Boydston (Keller, Texas/Keller Memorial) was selected as an All-American Scholar by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).
More than 800 collegiate women's golfers were selected in the three divisions (I, II and III). The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in college athletics, with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50.
Boydston, a business administration major in the McDonough School of Business, carries a 3.591 cumulative grade-point average.
This is the third-straight year that Boydston has earned All-American Scholar honors from the WGCA.
Boydston played in every tournament during the 2015-16 season and was tied for the team lead in rounds played (25). She finished fourth on the team with a 78.64 stroke average. She had a strong spring season, posting three top-20 finishes while posting a 76.86 stroke average over five tournaments.
A third-place finish at the BIG EAST Championship ââ'¬" where the Hoyas finished in second place ââ'¬" earned Boydston a spot on the league's All-Tournament team.
Boydston finished her career with a 78.34 stroke average in 87 rounds and posted 12 top-20 finishes, including two top-10 performances at the BIG EAST Championship.
The Hoyas finished the 2015-16 season as the runner-up at the BIG EAST Championship, the third-straight year GU has placed second. Georgetown posted top-10 finishes in nine of 10 tournaments played and were among the top-five teams in five of the last seven events.
