Georgetown Women’s Golf Set for BIG EAST Championships

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's golf team opens the postseason portion of the schedule at the 2026 BIG EAST Championships, presented by JEEP, on April 25-27. The 54-hole tournament will be held across three days in Okatie, South Carolina on the par-72 course at Callawassie Island Club.
 
FOLLOW THE HOYAS

  • The tournament will begin on Saturday, April 25, with 18 holes scheduled for each day through Monday, April 27.

LAST TIME OUT
  • With the third-best score in the final round, the Georgetown University women's golf team moved up to finish fourth at the Rutgers Invitational with a three-round score of 71-over 923 (306-314-303) to close the regular season. The 16-team field competed on the par-71, 6,024-yard course at the Rutgers University Golf Course in Piscataway, New Jersey. The host Scarlet Knights took the team title at 44-over 896 (294-304-298).
 
ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgia Ruffolo tied for 10th at 16-over 229 (78-79-72) in her last outing. The final round saw Ruffolo make the biggest jump of the day, ascending 22 spots. Over 54 holes, Ruffolo tallied one eagle (0/0/1), five birdies (0/1/4) and 30 pars (12/11/7).
  • At Rutgers, Mimi Burton moved up  nine spots to tie for 15th at 19-over 232 (78-78-76). Following three rounds of action, Burton tallied four birdies (2/0/2) and 29 pars (8/11/10).
  • In Piscataway, Catherine Qiu led the way for the Blue & Gray as she jumped two spots to tie for eighth place at 15-over 228 (72-79-77). Over the tournament, the sophomore tallied seven birdies (4/1/2) and 29 pars (10/10/9).
  • Milla Sagel moved up 11 spots to tie for 26th at 23-over 236 (79-79-78) at the Rutgers Invitational. Through the final hole, Sagel tallied four birdies (1/2/1) and 28 pars (9/9/10).
  • In New Jersey, Sunny Wang tied for 32nd at 24-over 237 (78-78-81). The freshman tallied four birdies (1/2/1) and 24 pars (10/7/7) over the tournament.
  • Competing as an individual at Rutgers, Gabriella Eifrig moved up eight spots to tie for 64th at 36-over 249 (79-90-80). Over a trio of rounds, she managed two birdies (1/0/1) and 23 pars (9/4/10).
 
HOYAS X BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIPS
  • Georgetown has twice won the BIG EAST Championship presented by JEEP (2018, 2017) and turned in 10 runner-up performances, including five of the last six championships and the last four straight.
  • In the BIG EAST Championship, Ruffolo (2024, 2nd round) and Megan Gormley (2022, 2nd round) have both posted a 3-under 69, the best individual round for a Hoya.
  • The best team round for a GU squad was a 3-under 285, carded in the second round of the 2024 championship.
  • Gormley's 2-under 214 in 2022 still stands as the best individual 54-hole score for a Georgetown student-athlete.
