Sept. 20, 2016 WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team and the BIG EAST Conference released the 2016-17 league schedule on Tuesday afternoon. The Hoyas will have three games on national television being broadcast on FS1 with the remaining conference games available on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN).
Georgetown had previously released the nonconference schedule featuring three home games and seven road contests including two games at the San Juan Shootout in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The schedule format will remain the same as last year as most conference games will be played on Fridays and Sundays with each institution having a travel partner.
The conference schedule tips off at home as the Hoyas host DePaul on Dec. 28 for a 2 p.m. matchup. The Blue Demons were last year’s conference champions. On Dec. 30, Georgetown will host Marquette at McDonough Arena with another 2 p.m. tip.
A trip to Villanova is scheduled for Jan. 4. The Wildcats are Georgetown’s travel partner and will return to McDonough Arena on Jan. 28 at 2 p.m.
The contest against the Wildcats also begins a three-game road trip for the Blue & Gray as Georgetown travels to Creighton on Jan. 8 and Providence on Jan. 10. The contest in Omaha, Neb., will tip at 2 p.m. ET, and the game against the Friars is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Georgetown will return home for weekend games against St. John’s on Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. and Seton Hall on Jan. 15 at 2 p.m. The contest against the Red Storm will also be broadcast live on FS1.
The Hoyas will head on the road at Xavier on Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on FS1. On Sunday, GU will travel to Butler for a 1 p.m. matchup at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
The Blue & Gray will then host Providence in the conference home opener on Feb. 3 at noon in a school-day game. This will be followed up with a game against Creighton on Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. at McDonough Arena.
Games at Seton Hall and St. John’s highlight the next weekend as GU faces the Pirates on Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. and the Red Storm on Feb. 12 at 2 p.m.
The last homestand of the season will feature Butler on Feb. 17 at 7 p.m., and Xavier on Feb. 19 at 2 p.m.
GU’s final road trip of the season will be at Marquette on Feb 24 at 8 p.m. ET before closing out the season at DePaul on Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. ET. The DePaul game will be televised on FS1.
Georgetown will return to the Midwest March 4-7 as Marquette hosts the 2017 BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament.
For the fourth-consecutive year, FS1 and FS2 will provide coverage of the BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament. FS2 will air the quarterfinal round on March 5. FS1 picks up the remainder of the tournament, with the semifinals on March 6 slated for 4 and 6:30 p.m., and the championship game set to tip off at 9 p.m. on March 7. The BIG EAST Digital Network will live stream both first round games on March 4, with tip times not yet determined.
All 10 BIG EAST teams will appear on at least two nationally-televised games during regular-season play across the FOX Sports family of networks, while an additional two games will be featured on CBS Sports Network. For the second-straight year, the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) will air all women’s basketball games during conference play that are not scheduled for a television broadcast, for a total of 73 tilts.
