The Georgetown University women's golf team posted its best round of the tournament during Sunday's final round and finished in 17th place among 20 teams at the 44th Lady Paladin Invitational. The tournament was played at the par-72, 6,313-yard Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.
The Hoyas posted a 12-over par 300 in Sunday's final round and finished in 17th place at 44-over par 908.
Texas topped the 20-team field, firing an 11-under par 853 to win by two strokes over Furman, who finished in second place at 9-under par 855. Illinois placed third at 2-under par 862, with Augusta University fourth at 2-over par 866 and Middle Tennessee rounded out the top-five teams at 6-over par 870.
Sophomore Pendleton Bogache (Myrtle Beach, S.C./Episcopal [Va.]) paced Georgetown, tying for 40th place in the field of 111 golfers with a 6-over par 222. Bogache carded a 2-over par 74 on Sunday.
Freshman Ashley Fitzgibbons (Sammamish, Wash./Eastlake Senior) tied for 56th place with an 11-over par 227 and sophomore Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, N.J./Kent Place) tied for 60th place at 13-over par 229, including a team-best 1-over par 73 in the final round.
Junior Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass./The Taft School) and sophomore Alexa Popowitz (Boca Raton, Fla./St. Andrew's) tied for 81st place with scores of 17-over par 233.
Georgetown plays next weekend in the Princeton Invitational. The tournament starts on Friday, Sept. 30 and concludes on Sunday, Oct 2.
