WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University volleyball team is set to host its first home tournament since 2010 when the Hoyas welcome Towson, Princeton and Maryland to McDonough Arena this weekend for the Georgetown Classic.

The Hoyas (2-4) are coming off a 1-2 weekend at the Stetson/USF Invitational. GU fell to Florida Atlantic, 3-1, and Western Carolina, 3-0, on Friday before coming back to defeat Stetson, 3-0, on Saturday morning. Against FAU, Alyssa Sinnette (Pearland, Texas/Dawson) set a career high with 28 kills while Paige McKnight (Atlanta, Ga./Dunwoody) finished with a career-high 21 digs. For the weekend, Georgetown was led by McKnight and Kenzie Higareda (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park), who were both named to the all-tournament team. In three matches, McKnight averaged 10.30 assists per set and 3.90 digs per set while also adding seven kills and five aces. Higareda finished with a 6.60 digs per set average while also adding three aces.
For the season, Sinnette leads the GU offense with an average of 3.78 kills per set and is third on the team defensively with 2.30 digs per set. McKnight is averaging 10.17 assists per set and is tied for the team lead with eight service aces while ranking second with 3.30 digs per set. Higareda tops the defense with 5.00 digs per set, which ranks second in the BIG EAST, and is tied with McKnight with eight aces. Symone Speech (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) leads the Hoyas with 20 total blocks.
Towson (6-1) enters the weekend after going 2-1 last weekend at the Seton Hall Tournament. Jessica Lewis continues to power the Tiger offense as she has recorded 71 kills while hitting .432 with 63 digs. Jocelyn Kuilan is hitting .358 while contributing 54 kills and six service aces. Marrisa Wonders has dished out 122 assists and Annie Ertz leads the team with 17 service aces. Anna Holehouse has a team-best 87 digs while Lindsay Flaherty and Candace Steadman each have 14 blocks.
Princeton (2-1) opened its season with victories over both Campbell and San Francisco last weekend, with its lone loss coming against Big Ten member Indiana. Brittany Ptak, a two-time All-Ivy League honoree, led the Tigers with 4.1 kills per set and a .464 attack percentage while reigning Ivy League Player of the Year Cara Mattaliano averaged 3.4 kills per set and All-Ivy setter Claire Nussbaum averaged an Ivy-best 10.78 assists per set.
Maryland (5-1) earned wins over Arkansas and Chicago State at the Kansas Invitational last weekend. The Terps suffered their first loss of the season to then-No. 4 Kansas in a hard-fought three-set loss. Middle blocker Ashlyn MacGregor leads the nation with 43 total blocks and is second in the country with 2.26 blocks per set. Gia Milana leads the offense with 4.26 kills per set while Kelsey Wicinski is averaging 5.05 digs per set.
Following the Georgetown Classic, the Hoyas will head back on the road for a pair of tournaments next weekend in Colorado. GU will play Northern Colorado (2 p.m. ET) and Air Force (9 p.m. ET) at the Air Force Invitational on Friday before taking on Southern Utah (2 p.m. ET) and Denver (9 p.m. ET) at the Denver Invitational on Saturday.
