Rosenberry Called Into U.S. January Camp

Jan. 5, 2017

WASHINGTON - Head Coach Bruce Arena named his first roster since returning as U.S. national team coach, selecting 32 MLS-based players for the team's annual January camp on Thursday. The camp will begin on Jan. 10 at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. Former Hoya Keegan Rosenberry was one of the players selected marking the first time a Hoya has participated in a senior national team camp.

Rosenberry is one of seven uncapped players to be called in. The entire camp is comprised of Major League Soccer professionals, representing 15 different clubs. Since the camp does not fall during a recognized FIFA international window for the release of players, only those who are not in season are available to be selected.

Among the group are nine World Cup veterans, eight 2016 MLS All-Stars, including Rosenberry, and three season-end league award winners.

"I'm excited, this is just another opportunity that I've been blessed to have in my young career, and I'm hoping to make the most of it," Rosenberry said to the Union Communications Staff of the call up. "I think it should be every player's dream to represent their country, and hopefully this isn't the only time for me."

Rosenberry had an outstanding rookie campaign for the Philadelphia Union after being selected third overall in the 2016 draft. Aside from being an MLS All-Star and starter in the All-Star Game, the defender was the runner-up for the MLS Rookie of the Year and the winner of the MLS individual Fair Play Award. He became the only rookie in MLS history to play all 3,060 minutes of a 34-match regular season, scoring two goals and two assists for the Union in 2016.

At Georgetown, Rosenberry had four goals and 13 assists for 21 points in his career. The two-year captain was a Second Team All-BIG EAST honoree for three-consecutive seasons. He was a two-time All-Great Lakes Region honoree, and a member of the BIG EAST All-Academic squad.

The United States will face Serbia in San Diego on Jan. 29 (4 p.m. ET; ESPN2) and Jamaica in Chattanooga, Tennessee on Feb. 3 (7 p.m. ET; FS1). Rosenberry will have an opportunity to earn his first career cap in one of the two contests.
