Men's Golf Finishes 9th at Fighting Irish Classic

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's men's golf team wrapped up the Fighting Irish Classic with a final round of 283 for a ninth-place finish in South Bend, Ind., on Monday afternoon. The Hoyas cut another two strokes off their second round score to jump ahead of Drake, Western Illinois and DePaul in the final standings.

Jack Musgrave (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean) carded a 68 in the final round, the best 18 holes of the season so far for the Blue & Gray, to finish tied for 22nd. Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Cardinal Gibbons [Fla.]) was hot on his trails, posting a 73 on Monday to tie for 25th overall.

Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla./Spanish River) and Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./The Haverford School) shot a 73 and 74, respectively to finish tied for 48th and tied for 54th.

Patrick DiPasquale (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) shot a 69 on the day, rebounding from Sunday's rounds to help catapult GU in the team standings.

Host Notre Dame (822) won the event by six strokes over Georgia Southern (828). Oakland (839), William & Mary (841), Toledo (847), Fort Wayne (849), Utah State (852) and Dayton (860) all edged the Hoyas (864). Rounding out the competition was Drake (866), Western Illinois (871), DePaul (875) and Xavier (286).

The Hoyas return home to host the 33rd Annual Georgetown Intercollegiate from October 15-17 at The Four Streams Golf Club in Beallsville, Md.
